Celebrating Our Diversity Through Football

A re-elected Andrews Labor Government will host Victoria’s first All Nations Football Cup to celebrate our multiculturalism.

Victorians come from more than 200 countries, speak 260 languages and follow 135 different faiths. Nearly half of all Victorians were born overseas, or have a parent who was born overseas.

Multiculturalism makes our state stronger and more vibrant – and sport is an important tool to celebrate our diversity.

That’s why a re-elected Labor Government will invest $500,000 towards a state-wide soccer tournament for men and women aged 18 to 34, with $50,000 in prize money for each winning group.

The All Nations Football Cup will be delivered in partnership with SportsVic and the Football Federation of Victoria.

In celebration of the 2022 Qatar World Cup and into the lead up of the 2023 Australia and New Zealand Women’s World Cup, Labor will also support bringing an elite Greek football team to play a friendly in Victoria as part of the All Nations Football Cup final at the MCG.

Labor has a proud record of supporting Victoria’s multicultural communities. Since coming to government we’ve invested more than $300 million in support for multicultural communities.

Matthew Guy’s Liberals can’t be trusted to support multicultural communities – they only pretend to care in an election year.

Labor is doing what matters – celebrating Victoria’s cultural diversity by supporting community festivals and events, infrastructure and services.
