Baking In Richmond’s World-Famous Music and Creative Industries

A re-elected Andrews Labor Government will ensure the inner north continues to thrive as a cornerstone of live music and the creative arts in Victoria.

Beloved cultural icon Bakehouse Studios in Richmond supports musicians and creatives of all levels with spaces for rehearsals, recording, filming, and events.

Having helped foster local talent such as The Avalanches and Spiderbait, as well as being used by King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Missy Higgins, Tame Impala, Cat Power and more, this rehearsal studio and venue is part of what makes Melbourne the nation’s music capital.

If re-elected, Labor will provide a $500,000 grant to Bakehouse Studios so that this great institution can become even better.

Labor is doing what matters – backing our important creative industries so that they can continue to thrive and that the musicians and artists who use these studios can have certainty in their future.

The Andrews Labor Government has proudly supported major festivals such as RISING, Always Live and helped establish Collingwood Yards and Melbourne Pride locally here in Fitzroy and Collingwood.

We also created our first ever Creative State policy to strengthen and grow the state’s creative industries. We know our creative industries are an important reason why people love Melbourne, and we’ll always make sure that we foster the spaces needed for the next generation of musicians.

The Andrews Labor Government has always delivered on what matters for local communities, ensuring our famous creative arts sector is thriving and accessible.
