Drivers in Narre Warren will be able to get home sooner and safer, with a re-elected Andrews Labor Government to fix the final section of Narre Warren North Road.

We said we would fix this busy and congested road, and that’s exactly what we’re doing.

The Andrews Labor Government has already duplicated Narre Warren North Road between Ernst Wanke Road and Fox Road, and we are currently duplicating the section between the Belgrave-Hallam Road intersection and Heatherton Road – but there’s more to do.

Only Labor will duplicate the final two-lane section of Narre Warren North Road, getting locals where they need to go with no delays from merging traffic.

Labor will invest $38.3 million to widen the road from Fox Road to Belgrave-Hallam Road, doubling the existing two lanes to four.

Intersections will be upgraded at Heatherton Road and Ernst Wanke Road, and traffic lights will be installed at the Memorial Drive and Crawley Road intersection, helping traffic flow more smoothly.

This busy road will also be safer for local pedestrians and cyclists, with the upgrade to include a new shared path with a safety barrier, as well as new street lighting, road signage and landscaping.

Labor will start planning and pre-construction work in 2019, with major works starting in 2020.

This vital upgrade will deliver quicker travel times and a safer road for local drivers.

The upgrade will build on the Labor Government’s massive investment in south east’s road network, which includes adding new lanes on the Monash Freeway, widening Thompsons Road, and removing the dangerous and congested level crossing near Merinda Park Station.

It stands in stark contrast to the Liberals, who plan to send one million new residents into Melbourne’s outer suburbs by fast-tracking 290,000 new housing lots, with no plan for vital infrastructure. The Liberals only care about lining the pockets of their developer mates.

Only Labor will deliver the big improvements that matter to local families, including duplicating Narre Warren North Road.
