A REAL COMMUNITY AQUATIC CENTRE FOR TORQUAY

Families in Torquay will be able to rely on great local sporting and community facilities, with a re-elected Andrews Labor Government to deliver $10 million towards the brand-new Torquay Aquatic and Leisure Centre.

Swimming in the sea is a part of life for people in Torquay, yet families are forced to travel to Geelong for swimming lessons, with no community facilities on the Surf Coast.

We need to make sure our littlest Victorians can learn to swim close to home, so they can fully enjoy coastal life.

That’s why this funding from a re-elected Labor Government will help kickstart construction on the $25 million project, which will include an indoor 25-metre pool, a learn to swim pool for littlies, a gym and group fitness room.

Beyond swimming and exercise facilities, the new centre will also boast a café, creche and allied health consulting suites.

With these upgrades from a re-elected Labor Government, local families – and our local community – will have the great sporting and community facilities they deserve.

While the Liberals want to overdevelop our community, turning the Surf Coast into the Gold Coast, only Labor will invest in the projects that local families really need.

The Labor Government has delivered the biggest investment in women’s and community sport in Victoria’s history, with $420 million dedicated to community sports.
