Police in Narre Warren will be given the state-of-the-art, 24 hour facilities they need to keep the community safe under a re-elected Andrews Labor Government.

Purpose-built, 24 hour police stations that provide round-the-clock counter services and patrols are vital to help tackle crime and keep communities safe.

Labor will invest $34 million to build a brand new police station on a new site that is highly visible, more accessible to the community and better suits operational needs.

This will include scoping land opportunities in and around the commercial centre of Narre Warren, and on major roads that provide better access for police vehicles.

There is also scope to consider how other divisional resources and the divisional headquarters could be accommodated at the new Narre Warren station – including co-locating Crime Investigation, Crime Scene, Intelligence and Highway Patrol units as well as Police Custody Officers and Transit PSOs. Construction of the new station is due for completion in 2022.

This builds on the Andrews Labor Government’s investment of more than $200 million in police infrastructure, replacing or refurbishing 35 metropolitan and regional police stations and 10 police residences.

The Liberals cut Victoria Police’s budget and failed to fund any new police officers.

Labor is delivering the single biggest funding boost in the history of the Victoria Police force, with more than $2 billion to recruit 3,135 more police and upgrade and build new police stations across the state.

As part of this, we’re delivering an extra 96 police officers across the Dandenong Division which covers Narre Warren – and giving police the powers, resources and tools they need to keep the community safe.

And we’re seeing this make a real difference with the independent Crime Statistics Agency showing the crime rate in Casey for the year to June 2018 down 17.4 per cent compared to the previous 12 month period.
