A BRIGHT FUTURE FOR LAKE WENDOUREE AND VICTORIA PARK

In great news for local athletes, a re-elected Andrews Labor Government will deliver $2.5 million towards upgrading the Steve Moneghetti Track at Lake Wendouree, as well as running tracks at nearby Victoria Park.

The Andrews Labor Government invests in community sport because we know how important it is for local families.

We’ve already funded new lights at Russell Square Recreation Reserve, new courts at the Ballarat Sports and Events Centre, new change rooms at Western Oval and massive upgrades to MARS Stadium and C.E. Brown Reserve, but we know there’s more to do.

Victoria Park and the Steve Moneghetti Track are favourites for Ballarat runners and walkers, but a lack of lighting currently forces people inside before dark.

This funding from a re-elected Labor Government will see new lighting and safety upgrades around both the Steve Moneghetti Track and Victoria Park so that everyone can walk, jog or run at any time of year.

Kickstarting work right away, the Labor Government today announced an immediate $272,000 to install outdoor gym facilities around Lake Wendouree to ensure fitness fanatics in Ballarat have the equipment they need.

With these upgrades, Ballarat’s families will have the great sporting and leisure facilities they deserve.

While the Liberals cut funding for hospitals and schools, and closed TAFE campuses – only Labor will invest in the projects our community really needs.

The Labor Government has made the biggest investment in grassroots sporting opportunities in Victoria’s history, with $420 million dedicated to community sports.
