Families in Brunswick will be able to rely on great local sporting facilities, with a re-elected Andrews Labor Government to deliver $1 million towards AG Gillon Oval.

Right now, record levels of female participation and a growing number of junior teams are putting pressure on facilities.

Funding from a re-elected Labor Government will go towards the masterplan redevelopment of “the Gillon”, including an upgrade to the ageing clubrooms and kitchen, improvements to the umpires change rooms, new flooring and a new scoreboard.

The upgraded Gillon Oval will be used by local sporting clubs, with the Brunswick Football Club, Brunswick Cricket Club and Brunswick Netball Club all set to benefit.

With these upgrades from a re-elected Labor Government, local clubs – and this local community – will have the great sporting facilities they deserve.

Today’s commitment is the next step in the Gillon’s redevelopment, with the Andrews Labor Government having already invested $100,000 to upgrade change rooms and develop the masterplan.

This funding also builds on other local sporting facility investments, including $500,000 for Campbell Reserve and new lighting at Sumner Park in Brunswick East.

While the Liberals cut funding for hospitals and schools, and closed TAFE campuses – only Labor will invest in the projects our community really need.

The Labor Government has made the biggest investment in grassroots sporting opportunities in Victoria’s history, with $420 million dedicated to community sports.
