Delivering Safer Roads and Better Shared User Paths

A re-elected Andrews Labor Government will deliver safer roads for road users, improved rail trails and better pedestrian and cycling underpasses for families in Ashwood.

We will invest $3.5 million to deliver:

·        A $1 million grant to Monash Council to widen and improve Scotchmans Creek Trail near Warrigal Road and Blackburn Road

·        A $1.5 million grant to improve the Waverley Rail Trail between Mount Waverley and Jordanville stations – including lighting upgrades and secure Parkiteer bike facilities

·        Designs for a pedestrian and cycling underpass for the Anniversary Trail at High Street with an investment of $1 million

With more and more Victorians getting on their bikes and walking to stay active, we’re making our rail trails and pedestrian and cycling underpasses safer for all users.

Since coming to government, we’ve invested $19.5 million to improve road safety at more than 55 schools, shopping strips and intersections across the state, saving lives and supporting Victorian jobs.

The Labor Government has already delivered level crossing removals at Toorak Road in Kooyong and Union Road in Surrey Hills, and a boom gate removal at Burke Road in Glen Iris.

A re-elected Labor Government will keep building to get Victorians home sooner and safer – because only Labor will do what matters.
